Privacy policy

Bhaav is a voice keyboard for Android. You speak in your language, and Bhaav writes your message in the language you choose, so you can insert it into any chat app. This policy explains what happens to your voice and data, in plain language.

The short version

What happens when you speak

When you tap the keyboard to stop, your recording is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to Bhaav's server, which runs on Railway in the United States. The server:

Bhaav's server keeps none of this. Its logs record only timings, sizes, counts (for example, how long transcription took) and a scrambled form of your anonymous ID, never your audio or your words. When the server turns a request away (for example, over a usage limit), the log also notes the IP address it came from. Logs are kept for up to 30 days. The text you insert stays in the app you insert it into, under that app's privacy policy.

ElevenLabs and Anthropic process your recording and text on our behalf. Under their own policies, they may keep it for a limited time, for example to detect abuse, before deleting it. See the ElevenLabs privacy policy and Anthropic's privacy policy.

What we don't do

Microphone

Bhaav asks for microphone access so you can speak your messages. It records only while the Bhaav keyboard is on screen and listening, which Android shows with its microphone indicator. By default it starts listening as soon as the keyboard opens; you can turn this off in Bhaav's settings ("Start listening when it opens"). You can turn off microphone access at any time in Android's settings.

Your choices

Children

Bhaav is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Security and international transfers

All data travels over encrypted connections. Bhaav's server, and our providers, may process data in the United States and other countries.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
